Common questions
Can I install any plugin I want?
Not directly — but for a reason. We curate the plugin set to keep your site fast and secure (and to keep our support burden manageable, which is how we deliver this at $35 instead of $200). If you need a specific plugin, email support@uplink.net.au; we vet it (security, performance, compatibility) and if it checks out, we add it for you.
What if I want to move my site somewhere else later?
Easy — it's a real WordPress install. We give you a full export (database SQL dump + wp-content folder) on request, no questions asked. No proprietary lock-in. We earn your business month-to-month.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. You start on a subdomain like acmecafe.wpresskit.uplink.net.au, then point your own domain (e.g. acmecafe.com.au) when you're ready. We handle the SSL cert automatically.
How is this different from Uplink Web Hosting ($15)?
Hosting is BYO WordPress — you install + configure + maintain it yourself. Sites is managed WordPress — we set up Kadence, install plugins, run updates, fix things when they break. Buy hosting if you're technical and want the cheapest plan; buy Sites if you want to focus on your content, not the plumbing.
Do I need to know WordPress?
Not really. Kadence ships with starter templates that look great out of the box; you edit text + swap images via a visual page builder. If you've used Squarespace or Wix, this will feel familiar — just with a real CMS underneath that you own.
